Dorset Tourism Awards 2020
We are delighted to share news that the judging panel for the 2020 Dorset Tourism Awards have chosen West Bay Discovery Centre as one of the Finalists in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism category. The Accessibility and Inclusive category focusses on how well attractions and tourism providers respond to the needs of visitors with disabilities and other impairments.
This means that that at the awards finals on 4th February the Centre will receive a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Special award and will also be automatically considered for the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
The Discovery Centre was also commended in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category.
For the Discovery Centre, like other tourist and visitor attractions, 2020 has been a challenging year and our success in opening the Centre for four months was a massive achievement by our manager and volunteers. The Centre is designed to accommodate a range of visitors with differing needs and we have been working hard to improve how we do this and the information we provide such as an accessibility guide and also a large print guide that will be introduced in the coming season.
