Sea Creatures made from Plastic

Published by Editor on

West Bay Discovery Centre regularly run children’s events during school holidays. Due to COVID our last event we ran was in February 2020. We have missed seeing the fun and enjoyment that our young visitors gain from these experiences. Our pop up exhibitions always involve the local community and include joint working with other organisations or individuals.

With so many lockdown restrictions still in place for May 2021 half term we decided to approach a local school and ask them if they could help us to produce sculptures to use in our current exhibition ‘ Turning the Tide’. Symondsbury Church of England School were delighted to take on the challenge!

Funded by the Discovery Centre, local artist Peter Margerum held a workshop for the children to create sea creatures out of plastic beach debris and they made absolutely fantastic creations! Come and see their wonderful models and learn about the problems with single use plastics at our pop up exhibition ‘Turning the Tide’!
