South West Coast Path Walks
Explore the South West Coast Path from West Bay
The South West Coast Path is one of Britain’s most iconic walking trails — stretching 630 miles from Somerset through Devon and Cornwall, right into Dorset and ending at Poole Harbour. West Bay sits proudly along this stunning route, offering spectacular sea views and memorable walks in both directions.
We’re delighted that West Bay Discovery Centre is one of the official South West Coast Path Way Makers, welcoming walkers to stop, explore, and discover the stories of our coastline. You can now collect a stamp for your Coast Path Passport at the Centre — a fun way to mark your journey and create a keepsake of your adventure along the Jurassic Coast.
Whether you fancy a short stroll or a longer hike, there’s a walk for everyone:
- West Bay & Burton Bradstock (5 miles)
- Eype & Bridport (4 miles) this can also start from West Bay see link for details.
- Thorncombe Beacon & Doghouse Hill (4 miles)
- Hive Beach (2 miles)
🌿 Please note: Due to a recent landslip, part of the path between West Bay and Freshwater (Burton Bradstock) is currently DIVERTED.
For more walks and downloadable routes, pop into the Discovery Centre for maps, tips, and friendly advice from our volunteers. Visit Dorset provides a selection of several short downloadable walks that can be taken from bus stops.
