West Bay’s Silent Soldiers

Published by Editor on

On this Remembrance weekend, we look back at some of the individual stories of sacrifice, we have uncovered in some of our previous pop up exhibitions. In 2018 on the 100th Anniversary of the ending of the First World War we joined forces with St John’s Church, and Bridport Heritage Forum to remember West Bay’s Six Silent Soldiers. whose names are featured on the memorial plaque in St John’s Church .

These local men who had lived or worked in West Bay left their families and sadly never returned home. They died in service not only in France but further from these shores in Gallipoli, Basra and in the South Atlantic.
