The harbour of West Bay no longer shows any visible signs of its shipbuilding past. However during the period 1769-1879 over 350 ships were built here. We will be bringing the shipyard back to life and discovering some of its secrets in this anniversary year.
In association with Bridport Museum we are delighted to be part of the Turner in Bridport events that are taking place during the summer.

Landscapes for Life Festival – 21-29 September 2019
It’s been 60 years since almost half of Dorset became an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a ‘natural health service’ for all to enjoy. Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are inviting everyone to join in the celebrations and get some landscape in your life all the year round, not just the summer!
Our September Stepping into Nature guided walk on Thursday 26th September at 10:45 will be about Weather, Waves and West Bay. The walk is free but we can’t guarantee the weather! Please note this topic has changed and some publications may show it as being about the Second World War.
We also have various self guided walks available for sale in West Bay Discovery Centre or alternatively pick up one of our free wildlife leaflet highlighting the wildlife that can be discovered in West Bay.
We will be holding various events and exhibitions during the year and if you are interested in collaborating with us in putting on an event, please contact us .
